New structure within Swedish Film Institute’s International Department – Jing Haase joins team

The Swedish Film Institute’s International Department warmly welcomes Jing Hasse, who joined the team in August 2017. Jing comes from Nordisk Panorama in Denmark, where she held a managerial position. Alongside Sara Rüster and Josefina Mothander, Haase will promote Swedish shorts and documentaries internationally.

The SFI International Department’s mission is to promote Swedish film abroad and to contribute to increased exports of Swedish film.

Jing Haase previously worked as the Nordisk Panorama Market Manager at Filmkontakt Nord, an organisation which promotes Nordic shorts and documentaries internationally. Filmkontakt Nord is also the parent organisation of Nordisk Panorama, an annual festival screening leading shorts and documentaries from the five Nordic countries. Jing holds an MA in German and Film, and has worked as a programmer at film festivals. She was with Filmkontakt Nord from 2007 to 2017.

“We are very pleased to welcome such an experienced person to our team. Jing has incredible knowledge of the Nordic film world, and is a well-known name in the documentary and short film branch. Simply put, a star recruit,” stated Pia Lundberg, Director of the International Department at the Swedish Film Institute.

“I am so excited to finally have the chance to work with Swedish shorts and documentaries, films I am strongly passionate about. There is an incredible interest in Swedish film abroad, and in the wake of recent short film successes such as Ten Meter Tower and The Burden, in addition to documentaries such as I Called Him Morgan, it feels as if I have hopped aboard a winning train. I feel fortunate to be invited along and to be given the chance to contribute to this journey,” Jing Haase added.

With the introduction of this position, the International Department will adapt a more team-oriented structure, with two individuals working with feature films and three focusing on shorts and documentaries. Theo Tsappos, who previously worked with short films, will now take on the role of festival manager for feature films alongside Petter Mattsson. The workload at the International Department will be structured accordingly:

Pia Lundberg – Director, International Department
Theo Tsappos – Festival Manager, Feature Films (previously short films)
Petter Mattsson – Festival Manager, Feature Films
Sara Rüster – Festival Manager, Documentary and Short Films
Jing Haase – Festival Manager, Documentary and Short Films
Josefina Mothander – Festival Manager, Documentary and Short Films (previously Project Manager for Swedish Film and special projects)
Ömer Bulduk – Administrator, Project Manager
