I Called Him Morgan is metacritic top ten

When metacritic.com presented their summary of the film year that just passed, the documentary filmmaker, director, producer and screenwriter Kasper Collin could enjoy the fact that his documentary I Called Him Morgan took a place on the top ten of the most critically acclaimed movies.

The cheers of approval have not hushed down since Kasper Collin introduced his documentary I Called Him Morgan to the world at the Venice Film Festival in September 2016, with a screening at Toronto Film Festival the following week. The film was warmly received by the Swedish critics after the premiere in March 2017, and the jazz infused "crime of passion"-tale's subsequent journey across the globe is quite the success story.

Several of the most respected film critics in the US and the UK and have given I Called Him Morgan top marks and eloquently expressed their admiration. In New York Times the senior critic A.O. Scott called the film "a delicate human drama about love, ambition and the glories of music". And Los Angeles Times film critic Kenneth Turan decided that "As a slice of recovered and illuminated time, I Called Him Morgan has few peers".

When metacritic.com now publishes their compilation of the films with the highest average score, Kasper Collins' film thus lands itself a very impressive tenth place, with all of the films from 2017 included, and an equally impressive third place amongst last year's most acclaimed documentaries. I Called Him Morgan's final score (on a scale from 1 to 100) is 90, based on 20 reviews. Eight of the critics gave the film top marks, namely 100.

I Called Him Morgan is produced by Kasper Collin for Kasper Collin Produktion, and received funding from the Swedish Film Institute, Film Commissioner Lars G. Lindström. It is being sold internationally by Submarine Entertainment.
