Milad Alami's Opponent – which had its world premiere at the Berlinale earlier this year, and has been screened at more than 30 festivals – is Sweden’s submission for the Best International Feature Film Academy Award.
Mika Gustafson, the director of Paradise is Burning, won the Orizzonti Award for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival. She also recieved the Pedicini Award (Authors under 40) for Best Director.
The Fondation Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé in Paris turns the spotlight on actor-director Victor Sjöström in a massive retrospective featuring 26 films. Also travelling the world in September: films by Mauritz Stiller, Ingrid Thulin, Jan Troell, Ingmar Bergman, and Lukas Moodysson.
