Swedish production funding to Fijona, Michael and Mikael
Michael Nyqvist stars in the Danish-Swedish drama You Disappear (Du forsvinder) by Peter Schönau Fog (The Art of Crying/Kunsten at græde i kor). Fijona Jonuzi makes a drama about Mikael Persbrandt and Thommy Berggren. Jens Assur makes his first feature and the creative collective Mahoyo travel to Johannesburg.
In You Disappear pleasant, respected Frederik is arrested for fraud, but when it turns out that he has a brain tumour, his wife Mia and their lawyer try to get him off the hook.
Jens Assur, an acclaimed short-film maker, makes his first feature Ravens (Korparna), a captivating drama set in the 1970s Swedish countryside, where farmer Agne is troubled by demands on modernisation and his son Klas’s reluctance to take over running the farm. In his longing for freedom, Klas finds an escape in his keen interest in birds, and with new arrival Veronica. The film is based on the August Prize-winning novel by Tomas Bannerhed.
Fijona Jonuzi makes the 60-minute drama The Greatest (Den största av dom största), in which actor Micke and director Thommy create a one-man show together. With two weeks to go until the premiere, they have no material and their professional relationship gradually becomes a private struggle. The film is part of the Moving Sweden project.
Several short documentaries are being awarded funding: The Mahoyo Project by Moira Ganley and Gustav Nord looks at a borderless collective that does art, fashion and DJ-ing. They travel to Johannesburg to teach young women to DJ and break norms. 10 Meter Tower (Hopptornet: 10 meter) by Axel Danielsson and Maximilien Van Aertryck depicts hesitation and vulnerability on the 10-metre diving platform, and Salmo by Tony Holm looks at salmon and sea trout as they spawn in rivers, overcome rushing falls and struggle against swirling currents.

Production company’s presentation: Betty has run away from home! Now she’s just a little, hungry cat sailing along in a potty, all alone. There are all kinds of crazy things in the water, but no food. And cats can’t eat garbage. But what’s that she’s caught on her hook? Maybe it’s not just rubbish? Maybe it’s a friend? A short, somewhat surreal film for children with plenty of winks to the adults in the audience.

How do we behave when we’re alone, and what are we like when relating to others? This film is an entertaining study of being human in a vulnerable position.
