The film is directed by Stig Björkman and produced by Stina Gardell for Mantaray Film.
“Stina and I are extremely happy about the special mention, and now it feels even better to go back to Sweden after this unforgettable Cannes Festival,” says Stig Björkman.
“This is the perfect end to a successful festival for Sweden. The spirit of Ingrid Bergman has been felt throughout the festival area, and this also consolidates the prominent position of Swedish documentaries on the global movie scene. It’s absolutely wonderful!” says Pia Lundberg, Director of the International Department at the Swedish Film Institute.
The jury included Irène Jacob and others, and the film was up against documentaries about other movie giants like Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock, Francois Truffaut and Steve McQueen.
Ingrid Bergman, in Her Own Words premieres at Swedish cinemas on 28 August 2015, in the same week that Ingrid Bergman would have been 100 years old. Nonstop Entertainment is distributing the film in the Nordic region, and TrustNordisk is selling it internationally.
