Documentary Film Commissioner Anna Weitz

Anna Weitz (b. 1982) studied documentary filmmaking at Stockholm University of the Arts. She has also attended the EAVE Producers Workshop and trained at Sweden’s Royal Institute of Art. She has been active in documentary filmmaking since 2005, working as a director as well as producer. She has a background in the film collective RåFILM where she produced Detained (2015) which was nominated for the Prix Europa and won the Swedish Guldbagge Award for Best Documentary.

From 2012 to 2020, Anna Weitz worked at Mantaray Film, one of Sweden’s most prominent production companies. She was the associate producer on Ingrid Bergman, In Her Own Words (2015) which premiered in Cannes, and was one of the producers on Silvana (2017) which was shown at more than 80 international festivals and won the Guldbagge Award for Best Documentary.

Anna Weitz's latest film as a producer, Josefin & Florin (2018) won the Prix Europa Best European TV Programme of the Year 2020 about Cultural Diversity and was nominated for three Guldbagge Awards (including Best Documentary) and picked up one award.
