
Janne Vierth
Janne Vierth is the Swedish Film Institute’s Commissioner for Film for Children and Young People from 23 May 2022.
Janne Vierth was born in 1965. He has been a film and TV scriptwriter for over 20 years with titles such as The Ape Star (Apstjärnan) (2021), Gordon & Paddy (2017) and The World of Dolores and Gunellen (Bajsfilmen – Dolores och Gunellens värld) from 2016. He has also written the screenplay for many films about popular children’s character Laban the Little Ghost and his sister Labolina.
Janne Vierth runs courses and workshops for screenwriters both in Sweden and internationally. For the last few years he has been involved with Cinekid Scriptlab, where he coaches other professional screenwriters.
Several of his films and TV productions have been nominated for awards around the world. Min bror kollokungen was nominated for Best Children’s Programme at the Kristallen Swedish Television Awards, and he has twice been Guldbagge Award nominated for Best Screenplay. In 2019, Vierth was awarded the Children’s Film Scholarship by Filmstaden/SF Bio.
The Commissioner for Films for Children and Young People is responsible for the funding of all film in the target group 0–18 years, regardless of platform. The Commissioner has overall responsibility for promoting and supporting film and film activities for the children and young people target group, and also represents the Swedish Film Institute in relevant forums.
