Accessing the collections – research
The collections in our holdings are made available for research primarily through our collaboration with the National Library of Sweden, where the films, after being transferred to tape or digital formats, can be individually consulted by researchers free of charge.
Researchers can also access our collections in our viewing tables. We charge a handling fee of SEK 700 for feature-length films and SEK 350 for short films.
We have a special agreement on research access with the Department of Media Studies at Stockholm University - Section of Cinema Studies.
Researchers can also order prints from our collections for screenings in one of the Film Institute theatres. For more information on the booking of the theatres, please contact biobokning@filminstitutet.se. In addition to the rental fee for the theatre, we charge the same handling fees as given above. Prints from the collections must be booked with the archive at least five days prior to the screening.
