Marie Kjellson - Producer on the move 2020
The Swedish Film Institute and EFP (European Film Promotion) have appointed Marie Kjellson to represent Sweden in Producers on the Move.
20 of Europe's most current and interesting producers are invited to participate in a series of workshops and seminars to exchange ideas between 11 and 15 May. Previously, Producer on the Move has taken place during the Cannes Film Festival, but since the festival has been suspended for the time being, EFP has chosen to make a digital version of the event for the first time.
Marie Kjellson is connected to Gothenburg-based production company Kjellson & Wik, which she founded in 2013 together with director Katja Wik. Previously, Marie Kjellson worked eight years at Plattform Production, the company behind, among other things, Ruben Östlund's films.
- It feels great! I hope that we who participate this year will feel that we share something unique that we will enjoy when we see each other in Cannes next time. Most of all, I look forward to pitching Katja Wik's new feature film which we have given the working title The Narcissist. We are in a very fun phase right now with lots of ideas, says Marie Kjellson.
Marie Kjellson has produced films such as Katja Wik's The Ex-Wife (Exfrun, 2017), which competed at the São Paulo Film Festival and at the Gothenburg Film Festival, as well as Ruben Östlund's Force Majeure (Turist, 2014), which won the Prix du Jury in Un Certain Regard in Cannes and earnered nominations at the Golden Globes, BAFTA and EFA. Furthermore, Marie Kjellson was the line producer on Ruben Östlund's Play (2011), which premiered in the Director's Fortnight section at Cannes. She has also co-produced Pirjo Honkasalo's Concrete Night (2013) and produced the short films Victim-Mentality Rhetoric (Offerrollsretorik, 2013) by Katja Wik and Incident by a Bank (Händelse vid bank, 2010) by Ruben Östlund. The latter won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
Marie Kjellson is educated in business administration, marketing and law at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.
