Palmer, lejon och björnar – vi guidar i festivaldjungeln

Vad krävs egentligen för att få en film antagen, eller rent av i tävlan, på världens främsta filmfestivaler? Vi har bjudit in programmerare för fiktion och dokumentärfilm från några av de mest prestigefyllda festivalerna. Hur ser de på svensk film? Vad tycker de är bra, mindre bra och hur gör de sitt urval?

Samtalet inleddes med fiktion. Nikolaj Nikitin Berlinale, Elena PollacchiLa Biennale di Venezia och Rikke Ennis från säljbolaget TrustNordisk, intervjuades av Svenska Filminstitutets utlandschef Pia Lundberg.

Därefter belv det dokumentärfilm. Hussain Currimbhoy, Sundance Film Festival, Martijn te Pas Idfa (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam) och Sirkka MöllerBerlinale Panorama, i samtal med Sara Rüster, festivalansvarig för dokumentärfilm på Svenska Filminstitutet.

Hussain Currimbhoy joined the Sundance programming team in 2014, specializing in documentaries. He was the Director of Programming for the Sheffield Doc/Fest in the UK from 2008, but before that he worked in international fiction and documentary programming for some of Australia's best known festivals including the Adelaide and Melbourne film festivals. 
  
Rikke Ennis has since 2008 been CEO at TrustNordisk, the largest sales agent in the Nordic region representing one of the most extensive catalogues in Europe - more than 600 films. She has since 2014 been part of the management at Zentropa.
 
Sirkka Möller has been organizing and programming international film festivals since 1988, with a focus on documentary and short formats. Among others, she has worked for DOK Leipzig, Sheffield Doc/Fest, FID Marseille, International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and the documentary world sales agent Deckert Distribution. Since 2006 she is a member of the selection board for the Panorama section at the Berlinale and is coordinator of the project lab Doc Station at Berlinale Talents.
 
Nikolaj Nikitin was the publisher of the film journal “Schnitt” for 15 years. He is the delegate for the Berlin International Film Festival for Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Caucasus and Finland. He is curator of the competition program of the European Film Festival in Palic (Serbia), THE LOOK competition in Oostende (Belgium) and consultant of several European film festivals. He is also a member of FIPRESCI and the European Film Academy.
  
Martijn te Pas has worked for the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) for 15 years. He is the Head of IDFA’s program department and responsible for overseeing all research activities, processing and viewing film festival entries, selecting music films, short films and mid-length competition films. He goes to several film festivals every year - either as juror (a.o. Hot Docs, Guanajuato International Film Festival, Docville) or as a guest.
  
Elena Pollacchi contributes to the programming of Chinese language and South Korean films for the Venice International Film Festival. She is also correspondent for Scandinavian films. She is a scholar and expert in Chinese cinema and has published extensively on Chinese and East Asian cinema.
